Woofun AI reports that Bitget has officially registered on New Zealand’s Financial Services Providers Register (FSPR) as announced on Thursday, marking a significant step in its localized service deployment. This registration formalizes the platform's ability to operate within the jurisdiction, shifting from informal access to a regulated entity status.
The authorized scope includes foreign currency exchange, domestic and cross-border money transfers, client asset custody, and portfolio and money management.
Notably, the FSPR’s registry did not show Bitget’s registration at the time of writing, suggesting a lag between the official announcement and public database updates.
Structurally, Bitget ranks as the world’s sixth largest cryptocurrency exchange, recording $389 million in daily trading volume. In June 2025, the firm secured approval to operate as a digital asset exchange and custodial wallet provider in Georgia, reinforcing its global footprint.
Per Woofun AI, the company submitted applications across multiple European jurisdictions, holding authorization from the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority via Archax. The platform is also registered with Italy’s Organismo Agenti e Mediatori and listed as a virtual asset service provider in Poland, Bulgaria, Lithuania, and the Czech Republic.
In January, Bitget announced plans to establish European headquarters in Vienna, Austria, appointing Oliver Stauber as CEO of Bitget EU. Stauber, formerly of Bitpanda and KuCoin EU, will lead the expansion under Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation (MiCA), signaling a strategic pivot toward compliant institutional growth.
