The scheme reportedly incentivized influencers to produce fabricated betting and high-profit videos on a simulated website designed to mimic the official platform, aiming to attract new users while concealing sponsorship ties. This strategy specifically targeted the US domestic audience, resulting in over 140 million views across TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram, with false bets totaling up to $1.9 million.
In response to the controversy, Polymarket disclosed that it is conducting a comprehensive audit of all active promotional content. The platform emphasized its commitment to industry transparency, stating the review aims to verify strict adherence to internal standards and applicable regulatory and legal disclosure requirements.
