Sonic Labs Extends Fantom Opera Operations Through 2026 and Announces New Executive Leadership Structure
2026-06-24 08:45

Per Woofun AI, Sonic Labs has disclosed significant governance and operational adjustments, extending the lifespan of the Fantom Opera network beyond its originally scheduled shutdown at the end of this month. The network will now remain active through at least the end of 2026, with the cross-chain bridge continuing to receive funding support during this extended period, a decision driven by community feedback.

Concurrently, the organization revealed a new leadership structure, eliminating the generic "Contributors" label. Matt Visser has been appointed Chief Executive Officer, leveraging his background in product management and financial restructuring from co-founding Squire.Law. Kosta Kourkoumelis assumes the role of Chief Operating Officer, bringing over two decades of experience in financial services and digital assets, having participated in ecosystem development since the Fantom ICO. This restructuring follows Andre Cronje's earlier announcement of his departure from the Sonic Labs board to focus on technology research and development.
