Woofun AI reports that Tian Yonglong, a former OpenAI researcher and Google DeepMind senior scientist, has joined the Tencent Omni team. He will focus on research and development for vision language models.

Tian holds a Ph.D. from MIT and a bachelor's degree from Tsinghua University. This recruitment follows the hiring of Chief AI Scientist Yao Shunyu in December last year, who led the open-source release of the Omni Hy3 model.
