These funds are linked to international online fraud schemes targeting residents in the United States and Canada. The operation falls under the "Scam Center Strike Force," initiated in 2025 by District of Columbia Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro. Prosecutors filed five civil forfeiture lawsuits on July 21, 2026, to secure the assets. To date, this initiative has recovered more than $800 million in total.
