Woofun AI reports that the South Korean government has published a "Roadmap for the Internationalization of the Won," targeting a shift from regulated to freely convertible currency status. The plan was developed jointly by the Financial Services Commission, the Bank of Korea, the Financial Supervisory Service, and the Korea Securities Depository.

The Bank of Korea intends to proceed with a pilot project for tokenized treasury bonds connected to an institutional Central Bank Digital Currency.

Furthermore, South Korea will join Project Agora, an international payment initiative coordinated by the Bank for International Settlements.
