Anthropic Fixes Claude Indexing Bug Exposing 11,241 Plaintext Messages Including Seed Phrases
Anthropic patched missing noindex tags after Google indexed private Claude chats. A GitHub repo archived 11,241 messages containing crypto seed phrases and SSNs.
Woofun AI reports that Anthropic resolved a configuration error allowing Google to index private Claude conversations. The oversight occurred because shared pages lacked noindex meta tags, enabling indexing despite robots.txt blocks. A GitHub repository subsequently archived 453 Claude and 519 Grok conversations, totaling 11,241 plaintext messages. These files contained sensitive data including crypto wallet seed phrases, Social Security numbers, and internal business documents. Anthropic added the necessary tags on July 26, prompting Google to remove the results, though Bing still displays some links.
