SK Hynix to Mass Produce LPDDR6 in H2, Supplying Xiaomi Flagships
SK Hynix initiates LPDDR6 mass production in H2 using 10nm tech. First units target Xiaomi flagships, following Q1 mobile DRAM revenue surge of 64.5%.
Woofun AI reports that SK Hynix will commence mass production of 16Gb LPDDR6 low-power mobile DRAM in the second half of the year. The initial batch is designated for Xiaomi’s next-generation flagship smartphones. Developed in March, the product employs 10nm-class sixth-generation (1c) technology, delivering enhanced data processing speeds and energy efficiency over prior generations. SK Hynix has maintained a supply relationship with Xiaomi since 2013.
LPDDR modules are standard in smartphones and tablets, balancing power consumption with performance. Driven by AI server demand, LPDDR contract prices have risen, contributing to a 64.5% quarter-over-quarter increase in global mobile DRAM revenue in the first quarter. SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics lead Micron in LPDDR6 readiness. This rollout may intensify competition in the SO-CAMM market, viewed as a complementary solution for AI server CPUs. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang visited SK Hynix at the Taipei International Computer Show in June, leaving a message of "LOVE SOCAMM" for the 192GB SO-CAMM.
