Vietnam Proposes Expanding E-ID Law to Cover Digital Assets and Data

The draft legislation extends coverage beyond individuals and organizations to include physical entities such as products and equipment, as well as digital resources including databases, documents, images, videos, and digital assets. Identification of these digital assets will adhere to the provisions of the Digital Technology Industry Law. The proposal also establishes mechanisms for suspending, restoring, and cancelling electronic identities and codes. Officials stated that while current systems serve citizen and government digitalization, a unified identification mechanism is required to address the rapid development of the digital economy and society.
