MARA CEO: AI Power Revenue Surpasses Bitcoin Mining, Shifting Focus to Energy Assets
Fred Thiel asserts AI infrastructure yields higher revenue per kWh than Bitcoin mining. MARA expands power capacity via Starwood and Texas acquisitions, positioning energy access as the core competitive advantage for miners.
Woofun AI reports that MARA Holdings CEO Fred Thiel stated revenue from utilizing electricity for AI infrastructure significantly exceeds that of Bitcoin mining. He emphasized that controlling power resources or securing utility partnerships is essential for competitiveness amid shrinking halving rewards. MARA is collaborating with Starwood to construct an approximately 1GW platform, targeting expansion to 2.5GW, and recently acquired a Texas facility with around 2GW capacity for digital infrastructure. Thiel clarified that Bitcoin mining remains viable in regions with surplus low-cost electricity, evolving into one of several power utilization strategies rather than the sole focus.
