Forge serves as a key component of the OpenSWE open-source framework, providing infrastructure for agent orchestration, cloud sandboxes, and integrations with Slack, Linear, and GitHub.

The platform's "Mux" feature enables approximately 600 internal users to run multiple AI agents simultaneously, shifting development from serial to parallel collaboration. Engineering lead Chintan Turakhia noted that proprietary tooling reduces dependence on third-party services like Anthropic and OpenAI, while AI spending declines despite rising token usage.
