Kioxia Mass Produces PCIe 6.0 SSDs and UFS 5.0 Storage for AI

Kioxia launches BiCS 10-based PCIe 6.0 eSSD with 92% faster reads and plans UFS 5.0 production by year-end to compete with Samsung and SK Hynix in the AI storage sector.

Woofun AI reports that Kioxia has initiated mass production of its 10th-generation BiCS 10 332-layer 3D NAND, utilizing the technology for the new CM10 data center eSSD. This PCIe 6.0 drive delivers up to 92% higher sequential read performance compared to the prior generation. The company also intends to begin mass production of UFS 5.0 embedded storage by the end of this year, offering data transfer speeds roughly double those of UFS 4.1 to target AI mobile devices.

Kioxia held a 13.9% global NAND market share in the first quarter of this year, ranking third behind Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.

Meanwhile, Samsung started mass production of its PCIe 6.0 PM1763 eSSD last month and plans to launch UFS 5.0 in the fourth quarter. Samsung also announced the start of mass production for its 10th-generation V-NAND this month, featuring hybrid bonding and triple stacking technology.
