ByteDance Elevates AI Data to Top Tier as Fu Yue Launches Agent Venture

ByteDance consolidates AI data units into a new top-level department. Former head Fu Yue reportedly exits to found an Agent/FDE startup, signaling strategic shifts in enterprise AI deployment.

Woofun AI reports that ByteDance has restructured its organizational hierarchy by merging Global Data, DMC, and AIDP into a new first-level department named 'AI Data and Security.' This unit now operates parallel to other major divisions such as Seed and Flow.

Concurrently, Fu Yue, who previously led the Global Data team responsible for large model training data procurement and quality control, has reportedly departed to establish a new venture focused on Agent and Frontline Deployment Engineering (FDE). The startup aims to integrate AI agents directly into client business workflows, requiring combined expertise in models and engineering. While co-founders and financing details remain undisclosed, sources indicate contact with several venture capital firms. Wang Yinglei has assumed Fu Yue's former responsibilities at ByteDance.
