Pirated 'Odyssey' Downloads Spread Lumma Stealer Malware Targeting Crypto Wallets

Bitdefender warns that pirated copies of 'The Odyssey' contain Lumma Stealer malware, designed to harvest cryptocurrency wallets, passwords, and browser data from unsuspecting users.

Woofun AI reports that security firm Bitdefender has identified Lumma Stealer malware embedded within pirated downloads of the film 'The Odyssey'. The malicious files, which began circulating shortly after the movie's release, are disguised as high-definition WEBRip or Blu-ray versions. Attackers manipulate file icons to resemble VLC players or video files and exploit Windows settings that hide file extensions to evade detection. These files are actually Windows executables that, once run, deploy the stealer to collect saved browser passwords, payment details, auto-fill data, and remote desktop credentials. The malware specifically targets sensitive information including cryptocurrency wallets and authentication cookies, enabling attackers to bypass multi-factor authentication protections.
