Interesting nuggets in @theinformation article on Stripe:
-They are a huge beneficiary of the AI boom, powering payments for OpenAI, Anthropic and other AI companies.
-Revenue grew 33% to $6.8B in 2025—its fastest growth since 2021... and $2B already in Q1
-Generated $3.2B in free cash flow, up 52%... ~47% FCF margin.
-Moving deeper into the AI stack (usage-based billing, model gateways, stablecoin payments for AI agents)
They suggest OpenRouter could be a natural acquisition target for Stripe. That feels a little far from Stripe’s core thesis to me, and could create channel conflict with the model providers, so I'm not sure it makes sense
