Woofun AI reports that Powerloom, a blockchain network designed for decentralized data infrastructure, will permanently halt block production at 6:00 AM UTC on July 21. The shutdown decision was jointly announced by the founders, including Swaroop, marking the end of the chain’s operational lifecycle.
Critical functional windows have already narrowed significantly. Reward claims, unstaking, and node burns were disabled when mint.powerloom.network went offline at 6:00 AM UTC on July 16. Consequently, users holding POWER or other transferable assets now face a strict 24-hour deadline to bridge these balances to Ethereum before the final cutoff.
The technical risk stems from the Arbitrum-based bridge’s dependency on an active source chain. As the underlying chain retires, the bridge mechanism loses its connection point, rendering any remaining balances stranded. This structural failure affects the entire decentralized data infrastructure, including snapshotter participation, data markets, validator infrastructure, and developer-facing products that evolved from testnet to mainnet phases.
Per Woofun AI, the founders described the wind-down as a "bittersweet goodbye" following a hard review of Powerloom’s path forward. They emphasized their original vision of providing reliable, verifiable data for onchain applications, noting that the community helped realize this through multiple development stages.
Affected users must adhere to the fixed deadline to move transferable assets to Ethereum and complete claims before 6:00 AM UTC on July 21. Failure to act results in permanent loss of access as the Powerloom chain and its bridge cease functioning entirely.
