I just reinstalled the Facebook app for the first time in over 5 years because I thought this had to be a limitation of the service it's within.
It doesn't matter if you message it through WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, or the Facebook app itself.
That means billions of boomers still have no clue how useful AI can be for fact checking, deeper research, or forming opinions of their own.

AI gateways sit inside a nasty feedback loop:
They make powerful models cheap and easy to access. Attackers use those same models to write better bots, mutate attack patterns, probe defenses, and scale whatever works.
Often they’re buying the inference with stolen cards in the first place.
So the gateway can literally end up paying for the intelligence being used to attack its own payment stack.
We deal with this every day. At enough scale, static rules get cooked fast. You need defenses that learn from the attacks quicker than the attackers learn from you.
For this reason alone, Stripe acquiring OpenRouter makes complete sense to me.

The strategy comes from cloud credits where the product is incredibly sticky. That is not the case with inference.
This is not a customer acquisition play, they're just pumping their usage numbers with subsidized usage.
